Whether you are planning your own internal ‘green week’ or are looking for external events and exhibition where you can share sustainability knowledge, learn from others, or simply win new business, a calendar of events is a great way to organise your efforts.
But with so many events to choose from, it can be difficult to know which to pick and which to ditch.
Here are seven top events to look out for in 2016:
25th – ‘Beyond Paris: the Climate Deal and what it means for me‘ – The Paris Climate Deal has been described as a “historic” event, but what does its mean for you and your organisation? A Planet Mark-hosted event.
19th – Earth Hour – WWF’s annual Earth Hour, drawing attention to the need for action on climate change. It is a worldwide call to turn off the lights for just one hour. In the UK it takes place between 8.30 and 9.30pm.
22nd – World Water Day – held as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
17-18th – Edie 2016 – formerly Sustainability Live, is the UK’s leading energy, sustainability and resource efficiency show for public and private sector energy and sustainability professionals.
5th – World Environment Day – the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment.
22nd – World Car Free Day – a showcase for just how our cities might look like, feel like, and sound like without cars…365 days a year.
3rd – World Habitat Day – In 1985 the United Nations designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.
