Compliance & Reporting

The new mandatory SECR, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting frameworkhas now replaced the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

SECR is intended to simplify the energy and carbon reporting for businesses and industry. The government hopes that the SECR framework will enable businesses to improve their energy efficiency and energy productivity by 20% by 2030.

The new regulations will require an estimated 11,900 companies incorporated in the UK to disclose their energy and carbon emissions – a far greater number than were required to act under the CRC.

From April 2019, companies with more than 250 employees, an annual turnover of £36 million or over, or an annual balance sheet greater than £18 million will have to share information about their energy use. This includes data on their carbon emissions and any energy efficiency measures they put in place. If your business is within the scope of SECR, you will have to report on energy use and greenhouse gas emissions through your annual report, for financial years starting on or after 1 April 2019.

Achieving certification to The Planet Mark will not only allow you to meet your SECR requirements simply and effectively but engage your staff and build a positive brand. Download our brochure for more information

ISO 14001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS). It provides a framework that an organization can follow, rather than establishing environmental performance requirements.

How can The Planet Mark compliment your ISO14001 certification ?

The Planet Mark requires at least a 2.5% reduction per year. We set a 5% reduction target for most businesses, however you can choose the targets which meet your own objectives. Once your targets are set we measure and monitor through our unique online platform. We monitor scopes 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions. This includes energy, waste, water and travel.

As well as The Planet Mark Certificate, you’ll receive a Report which provides recommendations for improvement and evidence of continuous improvement of environmental performance on a year-by-year basis. The Certification is renewed annually upon successful achievement of the previous year’s targets, thereby instilling a strong ethos of continuous improvement into a business.

Our senior management team and leadership workshops help gain support and understanding from the top. We can also assist in developing a Sustainability Policy, a key requirement of many EMS standards.

The Planet Mark is designed to communicate sustainability to audiences internally and externally to your organisation. The Certification works alongside your brand, and we provide marketing materials to facilitate this, as well as additional services to support bid and sales teams.
