Arram Berlyn Gardner (ABG)

ABG’S SUSTAINABILITY STORY

Arram Berlyn Gardner celebrates the tenth year of The Planet Mark certification. Arram Berlyn Gardner (ABG), a multi-award-winning firm of chartered accountants, auditors, tax, and business advisers, has achieved certification to The Planet Mark for the tenth consecutive year.

Arram Berlyn Gardner first calculated the carbon footprint of its London office operations for the year ending September 2010 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Arram Berlyn Gardner’s total carbon footprint in the year ending September 2019 was 99.3 tCO2e, a decrease of 6.1% from the year ending 2018. The relative carbon footprint was 1.0 tCO2e per employee, a decrease of 7.0% compared to the year ending 2018.

This year’s footprint includes emissions from natural gas, purchased electricity, electricity transmission and distribution losses, water, waste, and printing paper. Electricity emissions decreased by 2% and natural gas emissions decreased by 13%.

Steve Malkin, Founder and CEO of The Planet Mark, said: “These are fantastic results for Arram Berlyn Gardner in its tenth year of sustainable action. To keep cutting carbon year-on-year is no easy task, and it is a testament to the engaged and dedicated team there that the firm continues to see such encouraging results. As we embark on a decade of climate action, more firms need to look to the stunning example of Arram Berlyn Gardner as inspiration that we can all make change for the better.”

Paul Berlyn, ABG’s Managing Partner added: “We are really pleased to have achieved this accreditation for the 10th consecutive year. This is down to the excellent work of our team.  Our overall, and aim, to become a carbon-neutral neutral business involves changes in our behaviour and these changes must be led by our team.  The small changes we all make every day are modest compared to the changes that would ultimately be forced upon us if we do nothing”.

Certification to The Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

Arram Berlyn Gardner’s specialist team of accountants and tax advisers are all high calibre professionals that empower entrepreneurs, private individuals, and business owners to achieve their goals and ambitions with innovative, proactive and value-added advice. Arram Berlyn Gardner’s continued commitment to being a responsible firm influences all aspects of its business. It impacts the ways in which it operates, how it communicates, its impact on the environment and what as a firm it gives back to the community. Not only does it express its values through the service that it provides, but also through the ways in which it conducts business.

As companies recognise their responsibility in creating a healthier environment, there is an increasing expectation of sustainability in a business’ supply chain. B2B companies must react to this change in demand and demonstrate their own sustainable credentials if they wish to remain an attraction to new and existing clients.
