Dunlop Systems and Components designs, develops, validates and manufactures an increasingly wide range of products primarily for the automotive industry.
The company’s specialist area is air suspension, with a comprehensive product portfolio ranging from single air springs to full electronically controlled systems (‘ECAS’). In a long-standing and proud history in Coventry, dating back to 1919 in various guises, the company has now supplied approximately 1.2 million air springs and close to 250,000 full ECAS systems.
Between April and June 2014 Dunlop Systems and Components moved to an all-new, state of the art, 5600 square metre building just a short distance from the site it occupied for some 95 years. The new facility has been designed to achieve a minimum ‘Very Good’ BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) 2011 accreditation and the best possible EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating for its size.
The unit is possibly one of the most environmentally friendly manufacturing buildings in the Midlands. It is affiliated to the ‘Planet Mark’ scheme, ensuring that it is resource efficient in design, operationally efficient in use, and supports both local and global communities.
The company has achieved Year 1 Planet Mark certification, involving calculation of the existing carbon footprint and declaration of an intention to improve – in this case by achievement of a 5% carbon footprint reduction per annum.
