Environmental consultancy Low Carbon Europe has become the first Associate Partner of The Planet Mark™ in the latest step to expand the reach of the internationally-recognised certification programme.
The milestone agreement marks the first time The Planet Mark™ Certification Programme will be delivered by a third-party company. The deal was signed last week between Low Carbon Europe and Planet First Ltd, the creator and custodian of The Planet Mark™. It means Low Carbon Europe, an engineering and environmental consultancy based in Brighton, will offer The Planet Mark™ to its existing client base as well as new clients. Low Carbon Europe works with organisations in both the private and public sector. One of its biggest clients is the NHS.
Low Carbon Europe’s Executive Director Doug Bailey said: ”This is a very exciting time for us, as we will now be able to offer The Planet Mark™ accreditation to our clients which further demonstrates our commitment to helping clients reduce their environmental impact and save money at the same time, furthermore now they will be able to achieve an accreditation that is growing in stature and recognition across the business community.”
The deal with Low Carbon Europe marks the formal launch of The Planet Mark™ Associate Programme, which was first piloted in March 2016. Since then the programme has been training individuals to become Associate Consultants of The Planet Mark™. A total of nine freelance and self-employed people have joined the programme. Low Carbon Europe is the first Associate Partner to join the programme.

They are experts in their field and we are excited about the prospect of them taking The Planet Mark™ into new sectors, including healthcare” said Sarah Gillett, Head of Partnerships for The Planet Mark™.
Low Carbon Europe was first established in 2010 and employs around a dozen consultants. Most of the work is in the public sector and around 80% within the NHS, other clients include Skanska, Xerox and Historic Royal Palaces.
The Planet Mark™ was founded three years ago with the iconic Eden Project and is awarded to businesses, properties, new developments and projects that are committed to reducing their carbon emissions.
