A digital agency that has set itself a mission to “make a difference” is showing its ongoing commitment to sustainability by becoming Planet Mark-certified and setting a 5% carbon reduction in its first year of joining the programme.

Giant Peach is a growing digital agency first established in 2005 with a head office in Wiltshire and an office in London. The 11-strong team offers digital solutions, from website design and development, user experience and digital strategy, to video production and content strategy.

Giant Peach says it uses its digital expertise to “create life changing digital for brands that are doing good things and help them make a bigger difference” as well as taking a strong ethical and sustainable approach to its own operations. It is led by founder James Read, who has been driven to make his agency a “force for good” ever since his son was diagnosed with a complex form of epilepsy a number of years ago.

James said Giant Peach chose The Planet Mark™ to help it reduce its carbon footprint because “we share the same values and we love the fact The Planet Mark™ encourages transparency in business.

“The Planet Mark™ is also great at connecting like minded businesses and people as they know how important knowledge sharing is,” he added.

Working out of offices in a converted barn in Wiltshire, among the sustainable initiatives the agency already operates are a hybrid company car, the purchasing of ethically sourced tea and coffee and environmentally friendly print and cleaning products and the donation of all its old IT hardware to charity Rebuilding Sri Lanka. It also operates a ‘Meat Free Monday’ and holds regular sustainability seminars entitled ‘BareAll’, among other initiatives.

To meet its 5% carbon reduction commitment over the next year, Giant Peach says it aims to focus on reducing its energy usage by replacing existing lighting with LED lighting, reducing its waste to landfill and tackling its travel carbon footprint.
