There are 4.9 million small to medium sized businesses (SMEs) in the UK, but only a fraction have realised the business benefits of sustainability in terms of improving their financial margins, reputation and employee engagement.
Planet First is launching a new video campaign, ‘CEOs on Sustainability’, to break through this knowledge barrier. Video interviews with business leaders describing how they have benefited from sustainability will be shared with CEOs of SMEs through events and social media.
Steve Malkin, CEO of Planet of First and founder of the campaign, said:
“So many businesses experience the benefits of sustainability, but the vast majority of SMEs are missing out. We are launching a campaign for CEOs by CEOs because we believe leadership is the single most important factor for success in this area. We hope that this campaign encourages more businesses to join the biggest business revolution of our time.”
The long lasting benefits of reducing an organisation’s environmental impact are regularly seen by businesses in which the commitment to improve comes from the top. This is why it is crucial for business leaders who have already made the decision to integrate sustainability into their organisation to provide straight-talking advice to those who are yet to embrace it.
The video interviews describe live examples of sustainability in business and help answer practical questions on how to start and make the most from a programme. The project will be supported by free resources and information to help guide interested CEOs who are just embarking on a sustainability programme for their business.
Planet First will launch the new campaign on 30 October at an event in central London to mark the first anniversary of the launch of The Planet Mark certification for business, in partnership with Eden Project. CEOs attending the event will have the opportunity to record and share their own sustainability experience in a film recording booth.
CEOs are being invited and encouraged to participate by producing their own videos, which will also be posted online. If your business would like to get involved, please contact Camilla (Communications Manager) on firstname.lastname@example.org.
